Our client is a brand that has propelled to global appeal over the last 20 years. Receiving multiple fashion awards, extensive high fashion editorial coverage, and worn by fashion forward celebrities. Their designs are focused on femininity, detail, colour, and print. Role: Reporting to and in collaboration with the Creative Director, this position is responsible for the design and development of shoe collections, which are reflective of the Brand’s aesthetic and seasonal plans. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: • Manage the design process following product from initial concept, through prototype stage and fittings, merchandising in showroom, through to final production sign off. • Creation of mood board for seasonal presentations to the Creative Director. • Creation of technical drawings and CADs during the design process. • Communicate with suppliers during sample stage, create tech packs (specifying materials, sizes, measures, and functionality) that will be sent to suppliers and will become the master guide for all stakeholders involved in the production process. • Research of new materials and suppliers, developing long term successful relationships that ensure consistent quality and on-time delivery. • Preparation for the seasonal handover of approved sample and technical information for bulk production. • Develop and maintain good communication lines with functionally related departments and company stakeholders. e.g. Design Room, Retail Buying and Planning, Logistics. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of two and upholding design integrity, high quality execution, and timeliness throughout the entire development process from concept to finished product. Will possess a good eye for leather, fabrication and developed experience in shoe construction and design techniques. The candidate will also demonstrate the following: A minimum of 6 years of experience in Footwear Design for a high-end designer brand and previous Management experience. Strong research, concept and creative skills. Strong time management and organizational skills. Computer Literate: Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Office. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and have strong interpersonal skills. Flexible to travel – trade shows, manufacturing locations, Sydney Head Office.
